Syyttäjä on nostanut syytteen kansanedustaja Krista Kiuruun (sd.) kohdistuneesta epäillystä pahoinpitelystä. Vuonna 1990 syntyneen miehen epäillään lyöneen Kiurua kasvoihin Kaisaniemen puistossa perjantaina alkuillasta 13. joulukuuta.
Syytettä käsitellään aikanaan Helsingin käräjäoikeudessa.
Poliisi kertoi esitutkinnan valmistumisen aikaan tammikuussa, ettei tutkinnassa tullut ilmi, että teolla olisi ollut poliittista motiivia. Poliisin mukaan epäilty oli kertonut kuulusteluissa aiheuttaneensa häiriötä ennen pahoinpitelyä ja luulleensa asianomistajan soittavan asiasta poliisille.
Mies on aiemmin tuomittu ventovieraisiin ihmisiin kohdistuneista pahoinpitelyistä.
